If you are thinking of starting a unique and stimulating course for your students, the Teens Writing project is what you are looking for!

Based on the “New Views” format of the London National Theatre, Teens Writing aims to spread drama amongst teenagers through a playwriting course.

Both the teachers and the students will have the chance to benefit from the innovative project that has as one of its objectives the creation of a written play of a maximum of 30 minutes.

Who is the course for

Both single students or groups of max. 7 people, between the ages of 15 and 19 can take part in the project. The groups must be led by a teacher.

Training

The Milano Playwriting Festival’s team will provide the necessary tools to learn how to write a play (tutoring, meetings, teaching material, and more); in the meantime the teachers will also be given a the information and tools necessary to be able to structure a lesson of this type for their students.

The new work created by the students can be either individual or a group effort. No distinction will be made between the two.

A public reading of the texts in the schools is advisable, or in the case of single participants, in a venue selected by the students in collaboration with the tutor. This reading is not compulsory, however it must be considered an important step towards the completion of the work.

Evaluation

All the texts will be evaluated by a commission of experts and the winning text will be staged by professional actors.

Schedule

  • Sign-up deadline: 20th of November 2017
  • The texts must be sent by the 31st of March 2018
  • The winning text will be staged at the Teens On Stage, in a Milan theatre in collaboration with the Milano Playwriting Festival
